Lisa Visentin, M.D., F.A.A.P., CLC

A Long Island native, I spent my childhood in Nassau County and have family throughout Long Island.  I received my undergraduate degree and a Master of Science in health care management from Union College.  I then attended Albany Medical College where I received my medical degree with a distinction in Bioethics.  My pediatric internship and residency were completed at the Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital and I am currently board certified in pediatrics.

During my residency I discovered an interest in nutrition and breastfeeding.  I am certified as a lactation counselor by the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice and am a member of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics section on breastfeeding.  I believe that women should be supported in their choice to breastfeed.    The new lactation room at Kids1st Pediatrics is an optimal setting for mothers to receive guidance and encouragement in order to ensure successful breastfeeding.   As a board certified pediatrician and a lactation counselor I strive to combine my knowledge in both areas to guide parents in caring for their children from birth to early adulthood.

Outside of work I enjoy cooking, reading, playing soccer, traveling with my husband and spending time with my Labrador retriever, Hunter.  I am excited to have returned “home” to practice pediatrics on Long Island.
