Munira Husainy, M.D., F.A.A.P.
I was born and brought up in the bustling city of Mumbai in India. I finished my Medical School in India and completed my Pediatric residency at NUMC East Meadow in 2006, and have been Board certified and a practicing pediatrician since 2007. I am currently a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Since a young age I have loved interacting with kids, from babysitting to tutoring, to social outreach programs for underprivileged children in which I participated as a medical student, so I consider myself fortunate at being able to continue with this passion in my professional career.
I enjoy seeing kids grow from tiny infants, to carefree toddlers, to talkative children and to mature teens/adults. I consider it a privilege to provide care and comfort to children during these formative years. I believe the preventive care I can provide the kids is critical in ensuring their well being as they are growing and take this responsibility with utmost sincerity. I understand the nervousness a first time parent feels and the thoughts that go though their mind as I was one of them not so long ago .Raising my two young sons constantly reminds me of the parents perspective and helps me to respond to parents concerns with empathy.
With a busy schedule I am grateful for and cherish every moment I am able to spend with my husband and sons. I also enjoy cooking, reading, painting and travelling.
