Suzette Umbao, M.D.

I was born and raised in the warm, tropical island of the Philippines.  I received my B.S. in Industrial Pharmacy from the University of the Philippines and was one of the top 25 among the thousand examinees of the Pharmacist Licensure Examination in 1999.  I pursued medicine and received my degree at St. Luke’s College of Medicine-William H. Quasha Memorial in 2002.

I came to New York on one freezing day of January 2003.  I completed my internship and residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, Queens, NY in 2008.

I am an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  I have volunteered in a Developmental Pediatrics clinic in Queens to hone my skills in dealing with developmentally-challeged kids.

I joined Kids First Pediatrics in April 2009 and have settled in Long Island since then. I am loving the much laid back feel of the island compared to the fast paced living in the city.  My husband is a Physical Therapist and has his own practice in Long Island, too.  My daughter, Gabriela, born last September 2010, is giving me the parental perspective view as I practice Pediatrics medicine.

Outside of work, I am an active alumna of the U.P. Sigma Alpha Nu Sorority-North America Chapter, involved in forwarding the cause of uplift of women. I also love to travel with my family, try different cuisines, and experiment with my Nikon DSLR.
